WAN-LUV MUSIC SERIES AT RED ROOSTER FEATURING BROWN RICE FAMILY – MAY 8, 2013, 8PM-11PM – 310 LENOX AVE., NEW YORK, NY (WAN-LUV PHOTO GALLERIES, VIDEO)
Cocody Productions continues its proud partnership of The WAN-LUV Music Series, produced by Hip Hop Saves Lives (Chad Harper as MC), and Battle of The Boroughs winner Brown Rice Family (live music and drum circle coordinators). Brown Rice will perform on the top floor of Harlem’s celebrated Red Rooster restaurant with Cocody’s Jake Bright spinning an African/Caribbean inspired mix between sets. Hip Hop Saves Lives’ Chad Harper will host with Negus World.
WAN-LUV highlights the best of African, Caribbean and diaspora inspired music. The early evening events bring together festive crowds at unique venues and include live music, DJs, and select partnerships with musicians, media, and sponsors.
The HHSL, Brown Rice Family (BRF), and Cocody trio is hot off a streak of notable performances and collaborations. These include headlining the Art for Africa Sotheby’s series, hosting BRF’s album/video release concert at The Player’s Club, serving as opening act for Brooklyn Museum of Art’s debut Target First Saturdays, producing Stonehenge Properties’ summer music series with notable partners Afropop Worldwide, Negus World, and Face2Face Africa; and launching its drum circle dinner party series at Negril Village.
The partners arranged the WAN-LUV series for those craving a sanctuary of Africa and the Caribbean in New York. “We were inspired to put this together based on feedback from productions all over the city,” said Hip Hop Saves Lives Director Chad Harper. “Lovers of African diaspora music and culture wanted an after work event to that backdrop. We are honored to bring WAN-LUV uptown to Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster”
