COCODY PRODUCTIONS AND FACE2FACE AFRICA HOST SPECIAL AFROHOP

Cocody’s AfroHop series was back March 30 at Pranna in a special collaboration with Face2Face Africa’s magazine launch. Face2Face Africa, an innovative media and events company focused on rebranding the continent globally, celebrated its magazine launch, one year anniversary, and announcement of the 2012 FACE List Awards Honorees. In line with AfroHop’s musical focus, the multi-partner evening featured mixes by several prominent DJs, including Cocody’s DJake (Jake Bright). Attendees included many notables, including model Alek Wek, Miss Africa USA, Ghyslaine Tchouaga, MacDella Cooper, and Shrine World Music Cafe owner Abdel Ouedraogo (Afrikanspot Press Link).

The AfroHop event series brings together the best of African music and culture at unique venues. AfroHop integrates partnerships with charity, fashion, and media; special themes, and artist releases, performances, and hot diaspora DJ sets to expose the latest in African music. Past AfroHop events include Blitz The Ambassador’s album release with Hip Hop Saves Lives and Afropop Worldwide and AfroHop with Africa.com and partners Heritage 1960 and Princeton in Africa (past AfroHop press here).

"AfroHop's an exciting forum to connect Africa, the diaspora, and mainstream New York. Partnering with Face2Face's magazine launch we plugged into that with one of Africa’s most exciting new media companies,” said Cocody Director Jake Bright.

Additional partners for March 30 included Cocody continuing partner The Africa Foundation, NYU Stern in Africa, and Africa Style Daily. For more information on the March 30 event click here.
